Question eng layout?

ok i probly need a new alternator in my echo has about 100000 on it....also i need to tighten my timeing belt...where is the alternator on the echo...does anyone have like an online verson of any of the car guids they can link me or somethign...where exacly is the alternater...im sure ill reconize it but rather be safe then sorry... im going to go to auto zone and make them use the power system check on my car to see if its just not my battery but i think that its my alternator or maybe my started...should they be wearing out by now or could i be totaly off.....BTW its a 2000 echo auto 4dr....thanks...

ok figured out my problem...and i fixed it...today....any one know how to adjust the tension on the belts? one is lose and cant find the tensioners.....:conf used: ty

I thought the 07 Yaris is chain driven. I suppose the older Echo is belt driven. The car should be able to adjust the tension on it's own since the tensioner should be spring loaded.

My last car, I had to change the timing belt twice (since it wasn't chain driven), before I retired the car (total cost about $1000). It's an expense I'm going to try and avoid in the future.

Yarisworld.com should have an downloadable work-manual for the Echo. I managed to download one for the 07 Yaris. Not that'll it help, since I'm not mechanically savvy.

pretty sure the echo's were chain driven as well.

i figured it all out...and unless by chain u all mean rubber with some meatle slivers in it then its a belt lol....
