Question Max RPM

Does anyone know the max RPM for the 1.5 in the Yaris before it redlines? I do not have a tach in mine, but I figure it would be an easy question for those of you that have one. Thanks!

Cheers,
Ryan

I want to say 6,000 or 6,200 because I believe the horsepower peak is at 6,000 so 200 more is the red line but don't quote me on that.

6500 ish. It's a hard redline, in that the ecu won't let you go any faster. I can't remember if it's 6500 on the tach, but I think so. I'll look in the morning.

I think its controlled at 6550RPM, you could go higher if you install the speed limiter/rev limiter disabler module... it cost about 300-500 depending on store... its useless without proper mods...

Cause we're not Canadian

Yeah it sucks, the tach is only availible on the sedan. The sedan in the U.S. is positioned higher (not by much) than the base, base version of the hatch. Sure you can get options on the hatch but Toyota figured it will sell more sedans cause its America and that seems to be the case although the hatch is catching on.

Thanks guys! It is stupid that the US Yaris hatch doesn't have a tach, but mine does now! The whole thing put me back about $200. I mounted the tach right behind the stearing wheel, but far enough forward to still open the compartment.

Would a simple gauge cluster swap add a tach? Seeing as how the VSS wire is integrated into the gauge harness.

Should have went with a Defi VSD Concept HUD. Its pretty sick....
You get oil temperature, water temperature, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and exhaust temperature , on top of RPM, and curent speed.

I like the setup that I have. It is simple, but effective.

pic of the tach install please? I bought my Yaris today, and the first thing I'm doing, even before tint, is a tach. I can't drive a manual car without it.
