Anyone know about the 2008 Yaris or if they are going to make a Hybird Yaris? I almost have my Yaris paid for,and only have 10,000 miles on it but if they make a better model in 08 or give us hybird I might trade for one?

Hey, it's your $$, but it would be foolish to (1) trade in a car, any car any time as you get screwed, and (2) buy a new cars so quickly...what do you hope to get in the new car? Better MPG? Well, the savings will be lost to the $$ you lose on your current car sale.
Don't be like most stupid people....keep your cars till they drop....take care of them so they look and drive like new....don't get sucked into this sell/buy car dance that is very, very detrimental to most futures, perhaps yours!
Be wise....you already got a great car, what is wrong with it?
Probably later on but certainly not soon. Toyota is still trying to make hybrids cheaper. If they came out with a hybrid Yaris then the price will jump also it will canabolize Prius sales, so that's not going to happend. The Yaris at least for NA is an entry level car to get you started and then later hopefully you will move up to a Prius or another bigger car within the Toyota line up. So no its not going to happen, at least not soon but Toyota probably wiil trickle down its hybrid technology eventually. Besides the Yaris gets hybrid like mileage and is just as clean or close yet costs much less, can't go wrong with that! Maybe they'll come out with a diesel Yaris for the U.S. That might be more of a promising future aspect than a hybrid. If they come out with a diesel Yaris I'm getting that!

Yes, the Yaris is new to the US in '07. Also, if I am not mistaken you will never see a new diesel Yaris in NY because I understand that it is not possible to register a diesel car with fewer than 5,000 miles in this state.
Yes, Toyota will be adding a new Yaris (Yaris SR131hp) to its 2008 lineup, but seeing as this is an Aussie publication, don't count on North America getting this souped-up version (+/- alterations) for a couple of years.
Knowing Toyota, we will never see that 1.8 engine here in a Yaris. The SR package may become available, but it will be a badge and sticker vehicle like the RS was...a couple of skirts, a spoiler, nicer seat covers, perhaps aluminium wheels, but still basically a stock Yaris.
I'm not going to miss the 1.8L engine. I suspect the Yaris will have a hard time planting down the extra horse power, unless traction control comes into play and if it did, it's still no match for the Civic Si (which would probably be it's direct competition). It'd be like giving free publicity to Honda.
Personally, I'm quite happy with the amount of power generated from the small 1.5L. That engine can really work (hopefully it can also handle all the abuse...I tend to redline it alot and it now has 53000km..if not, I'll just have to go back to Honda).
I can safely say that the Manual Yaris is probably faster then any other of it's direct competition (Versa, Fit, Wave, Rio, etc)...so it's already champ in its own segmant.... Toyota will need another Celica with an improved engine to take on the Si.
What would be cool for future Yaris is Hybrid with an electric motor that can drive the rear wheel. GM seems to already have it in the works, but can they make it cheap? A cheap, efficient, lliftback, with 4 wheel drive is a perfect fit for all conditions. It's the right formula..I wonder if Hyundai will beat everyone else to the punch and not play catch-up for a change since they already know how to keep the price down.
I don't believe you'll see a Yaris hybrid for a LONG time, if ever. Yaris is the low-end price leader, and producing a hybrid version would price it WAY out of it's league. A diesel would be really cool though. I'd take one of those in a minute.
I also agree wholeheartedly with Pavel Olavich. Even if a hybrid were available, it would be a financially pointless trade, since yours is so new & nearly paid for. Bask in the all too temporary bliss of a nearly new car that's paid for.
