Question ECHO--Weapon-R 'Secret Weapon' Intake

Does anyone have any experience with the Weapon-R Secret Wepon Short Ram Intake for Gen 1 US Echo (y2k)?? Good? Bad? I'm looking to purchase one and wondering if it will be worth it.

The cheapest I found was $178 at horsepowerfreaks.com, Weapon-R's msrp is about $205.

That's not too expensive in my opinion, maybe somebody with CAI here could compare prices. For sure though you usually wouldn't get much more power outta this, like maybe 5hp more at the most, unless you do a combination of modifications (such as exhaust) to maximize the gain. It'll definitely sound better though, which is reasoned enough to get one if you want a more throaty noise.

I found oine on ebay where a guy actually had a chart for the gains and it said 5hp and 3ft/lbs for the xb so I assume it would be the same for the echo, and i would be looking to get an exhaust later, i just want the intake for right for a bit of mpg increase.

plus its pretty much all i can do since i have an automatic

I see. Buyers beware though when comes to eBay And don't bet on better MPG with the intake, it'll help with power but dunno how much MORE mileage you could squeeze even if it's an improvement.

Yeah, having an automatic sucks balls. I wonder how much is it to do a 5-speed swap.

Doing it yourself? I can't imagine it would be too much if you could find out where the insurer dragged my old car to...financially not worth the effort, but if you really wanted a 5spd and loved your particular car.

I dont love my car let alone like it enough to warrant the swap.

Anywho, do you know any thing about the Intake in question? As long as i have to drive it i might as well try to make it faster and more fun to drive then maybe i'll learn to love it...someday.
