So i recently purchased and installed a short ram intake from Weapon-R, it is the Dragon model and i have to say i am quite pleased with it. It is the only performance upgrade i have on my echo (for now ) and the gains are not what i would call significant but they are noticable. Gas milage has actually not varied much which is nice given my line of work and it sounds pretty nice too. Install was easy, only part i needed that wasnt included was a good length of 5/8" PVC hose. It is also Carb Legal which is good since i'm in CA.
Http://Weapon-R.com , check it out, they are the only manufacturer i could find who actually makes an intake specific to the echo, and the price point is not bad a t just ove $100.00.

Pretty straight forward. It only took a about an hour or so once i had the correct parts to hook everything up, it comes with everything but a connection for one hose and good length of 5/8" PVC hose, i needed about 2'. The OE filter/air box is pretty easy to remove with just three bolts below the filter element and one mount screw (as well as all the couplings and hoses of course), and the battery has to come out to get the whole assembly in but thats not much work. the only real issue is that the is nowhere to hook the "To canister" hose on the intake so i cut a hole in the silicon 2.5"-3" coupling directly behind the filter element and put a 1/4" 90 deg. elbow through it with a 1" peice of 1/4" hose going towards the filter element and then ran hose to the connection in the engine compartment, i dont know if that made sense to you or not but i cant post attatchments otherwise i would have posted a diagram of what i did. If you are seriously considering it i would be happy to email you a diagram. Yes it does sound different, much lower tone, its a nice rumble, much less ricey.

come back when you get more info about it important gains
I havent had a chance to dyno it yet but there are noticible gains. If it just acted like a whistle it wouldn't have the nice low sound and good mid to high range gains that it produces, and as far as it filtering effectively, it has a high density foam filter that I have yet to have any issues with, and gas milage was unaffected overall but thats all in how its driven. Any rattling or noise would be the result of a poorly mounted part, so no, no rattling or noise. So if you want dyno results why don't you send me some money and I'll get right on that. Yeah, its chrome and adds a little flair under the hood, but does what its supposed to first and foremost, increase hp and torque. Dont come on my thread and start bashing me and a product I am reviewing. If youve got something negative to say about the intake thats fine, but express your thoughts in a professional manner as I did and then this thread would be that much more useful and informative to everyone else. Come back when you learn how to use manners in asking a question rather than assuming the person you are asking is an idiot and doesnt know the answer. You know, I am just trying to provide information to others because I had trouble finding information on this particular product but decided to get it anyway and glad i did. Oh, and stop spamming that website for SUPRA filters in all of your posts, this happens to be an ECHO forum.

I have the weapon r secret weapon intake and i know people with the dragon intake they sell. I would have to say the secret weapon intake is better but twice the price. I noticed also big gains but at mid to high rpms. at low rpms its alright but you cant really feel a differnce.

Sweet! How was the installation procedure? Did you buy it off ebay or a distributor, (I find ebay sellers sometimes don't include all the parts necessary to install a part.)
I bought the intake directly from the Weapon R website. It was shipped out fast and I recieved it in no time. However, I had to go buy 1 silicone hose for it becuase one of the ones I recieved was to small. The hose only cost like 2 or 3 dollars though. The installation was extremelly easy. Even people that have never really worked on a car can do it in 30-40 max. I took me probably an hour, but that includes going to get the hose. Once I got the hose it took all of 15 min to put in. If you need help, even though it comes with the instructions, you can call Weapon R from the number off the website and they will walk you through the install. Great company. It is diffenitely worth the money. If you are looking to do more to your car some other things that are great are the TWM shortshifter with aluminum brushing kit (Another great PRODUCT couldnt live without it), do exhaust with 2 1/2" pipeing all the way back, flowmaster high flow catalytic converter, and upgraded ngk sparkplugs. The one's that are stuck in the car suck. Im looking for headers so if you know of anywere to get them let me know. I found some 4-1 headers on ebay, but it does not specify brand so I won't buy.
If there are any questions just hit me up ill answer them.
i originally wanted the secret weapon intake but i was disappointed because they stopped making it for the echo due to TOO much air getting to the engine and the CEL not ever going off.
I got mine through weaponspeed.com which is one of the dealers actually listed and linked on weapon-r's site.
oh, and guys/gals, this thread is supposed to be a review of the Dragon intake for the echo specifically so just try not to clutter it with too much about other cars or intakes, thanks.

i just went to the weapon r website to look for other items they make for toyota's. while i was there i seen that they still make the secret weapon intake. what you said about to much air flow ive never heard before. my intake works great. remember the more air flow the better the performance

I found it on the website www.weapon-r.com, I already put an order down for it. No offense, but I think the weapon one looks more professional than the dragon. Dragon just looks too flashy and gimmicky. I'm sure there's also a good reason why they would sell Weapon twice as much as Dragon. Sorry, but Dragon just doesn't make my cut.
