That would be nice but obviously its not happening soon. The Yaris in the U.S. is positioned too low for this, not to say they can't have a higher end one but the market for the U.S. is not enough to justify the costs, plus the price of this would be well into Corolla territory. Canada there is certainly more of a chance.
I guess you can techinically say the xD is the closest we get, abeit not as much horsepower but the xD does ride on a modified Yaris platform.

The main advantage would be weight, about 300 lbs, compared to XD.As Corolla territory is about to go higher, maybe there will be room.Sport sub-compacts will be a very hot segment in US if gas goes higher .

Yes, that is true! I'm not saying I wouldn't want one over here but at this point probably it won't be but I agree with ya, it would be cool to have it over here especially with the wieght advantage...although with the one in Europe its geared in the not so sporty way hence why the 0-60 times are identicle or close to the 1.5ltr engine we get here...but I'm sure to make up for the time it can really go when at speed and the top speed obviously is higher and its more sporty

You mean 1.8ltr? I'm not aware of a 1.6ltr in development or already on the market? Please do tell me!

I think its up to the competition. From what I read the next Fit might get a power boost but maybe it will be for a top of the line version, because the Fit now with its mileage is good but not great like the Yaris is... but like I said if the competition gets heated then Toyota might justify bringing some goodies over.

I was referring to the 1.6 currently in use in europe.Or hopefully the dual vvti version recently announced(124 hp).The current 1.5 gets a little coarse in the upper tach, the 1.6 is probably more refined as europeans have demanded more in a compact than the US.If the 10th gen Corolla gains too much weight, some may be looking for a more refined Yaris.

I wasn't aware of a 1.6ltr, I'll have to look it up...I know the xD uses the new 1.8ltr Dual VVT-i.
