What is the redline?

I'm installing a tachometer which has a movable redline to indicate where you should not go, and I would like to know if anyone knows where the redline
should be for a 2000 ECHO? Thanks.

if i was you i would not take the echo much higher than 4,000 to 4,500 rpms. its just risking it if you are going much higher. The echo was not meant to be a sports car.For instance, if you had something like a 350Z or hyndai tiburon V6 you could take the rpms up to 6,000 to 6,500 safely since the cars are geared more towards power and racing. However, I have taken mine to about 4,300 rpms with no issues in the first three gears.

i forgot to say that taking your car up to 4,000 rpms wont kill your car unless you do it day after day and dog the shit out of it. if you just do it every once and a while your car will be fine.

Specification for the 2000 Echo was for maximum HP (108) at 6000 rpm. Redline is normally at least a few hundred rpm above peak HP so is probably at 6500 rpm. But unless you get a definite answer I'd set it around 6200 rpm to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the replies

Thanks for all of your replies about the redline. I ended up setting it at about 6,200. BTW, the install went pretty well (Summit-silver G2886, $42.95), will try to get hookup for the ecu so that the wire does not not just stick out- otherwise I'm happy to just see the revs!
