I'm getting a new Yaris 2008 this month! and I was wondering, Is there any Drum-to-Disc Brakes Conversion kit? I really really want to change them, but I was looking at some websites and none of them have any specifics about the Yaris.

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.
--Can honestly go to a parts counter and ask for brake shoes for the front brakes.

Any reason why you would need rear discs? If your racing/autocrossing then maybe i can see the need or if you are upping the hp by a huge amount. If its just a daily driver then you are wasting time/money. I would spend the money somewhere else, just as a refference you would probably need to find a masterbrake cylinder/rear prop valves/parking cables/not to mention all the mounting hardware/rear hubs calipers etc from a similar toyota. For a car that has most of the weight in the front anyway. If you want to upgrade your braking try finding a kit that allows larger front brakes. Just my .02c

only if you consider price, that parking brakes are easier to design, or you are trying to put on the smallest rim possible are they ever better than disks. They are more complex, heavier, don't shed heat well, will trap moisture and mud (more important for off roaders), and certainly don't have any performance friction materials.
dont do it buddy, not worth it,when you need parts they will take forever to get(ie rear disc ,pads or calipers)pluse rear caliper seize up mor often then the front and the pads wont last as long as a shoe linning would,
Where do they sell Yaris' with rear drum brakes? The old one from '99 had them, but the second generation has discs on all wheels on even the cheapest version AFAIK.
Drums are cheap, easy to maintain and I don't feel the need for discs in the one I drive ('00), but Toyota must have had reason to give the new one discs.

Ya, over here, people still think of small cars as cheap and manufacturers can get away with certain things. This is opposed to Europe and possibly the rest of the world where small cars are sold much more and thus things like rear disc are a must in order to compete with competition.

The 08's have rear drum, and I believe the 07's had'em too!
