Question 2008 Yaris windshield wiper gap

Seems to be a design flaw on 2008 Yaris where passenger side wiper is not long enough on the inner area of windshield. When I used wipers for first time this weekend in snow and ice, there is about an inch gap in the path covered from the end of the driver side wiper and passenger side wiper at the bottom of the windshield. The non covered area goes up about 3 inches and is in a pyramid shape before the two wipers converge and winshield is wiped clear. Any other 08 Yaris owners or earlier models seen same problem? Thanks

Is this a serious post? How many cars have you owned? You're describing a condition that 99% of the cars on the road have. The only exceptions being where 2 wipers pivot outwards, thus sweeping the bottom pyramid you describe, yet leave an "Eddie Munster" upside down triangle at the top (older GM minivans). The other exception being those cars with one wiper (Subaru XT coupe, certain Mercedes models etc).

3" of snow in the middle bottom part of the windshield will not make you crash........but the snow on the ground might!

Well, I'm 56 years old, driven everything from an Audi to a Volkswagen plus GM, Chrysler and Fords, and and have never never never seen what I described in my email on the hundreds of makes and models I driven or performed maintenance on, i.e. the gap in the initial wipe pattern from the bottom of the windshield on the 2008 Yaris. Thanks

hmm...since that passenger side is quite dinky, is it feasible to just give the car one big wiper?

what about the placement??? you need to move the arm to the middle of the bonnet (well not really on the bonnet, but you know what i mean!). anything is possible if you put alot of $$$$ into it

About the gap.... Since it's been rainly lately, I guess I've noticed the gap. Thank you Nanonggapok, without you meantioning it, I would never have noticed or cared, lol.BUT....I do have a remedy. Next time at the auto parts store, look at the windshield, see how much room you have, take the little wiper out and use it to buy a larger wiper that will not impede the larger wiper from doing it's job.I'll think about it when it's time to replace both of them.

I can't speak for other cars but when I had the 96 Camry, one of it's blades was slightly shorter than the other. But when it came time to replace them, I got curious and took the drivers' side (longer) one and put it onto the passenger side, fit fine. So from then on, I just stuck with the longer size for both sides of the car.

So I can only assume some cars have different lengths, just not as drastically different as the yaris, lol.

Nanonggopog, if you are still keeping up with this thread, I looked at the lengths some more. While you have a lot of room to expand towards the middle, you might be going onto the border of the windshield of the passenger side if you do go too long. I guess ask the counter person if you can take it out to the car (whatever length you chose) and test fit it first.

My 1996 Honda Civic was the first car I had owned with 2 different size wipers. It is getting way more common.
