Smile Echo Hatchback owners read

To any of you who own, or have driven an echo hatch, I bought mine recently but I have to wait a long time (2 months) to receive it since its being imported from Japan. I just wanted some comments about how much uve enjoyed the car so far? You think it was a good investment? handling? speed? gas? i took it for a test drive and i loved the feel of it, because its so small and lights feels like ur rideing on a cloud lol but thats just me. How is it in the long run?

Exclamation I'm interested too!

I'm also interested in some feedback from u vitz owners out there! I'm planning to get one come spring...

also, to the local owners, ie. toymaniac, i have a few questions about the options available...

1. is there no tachometer available as an option?

2. say i get the cold air intake installed by toyota, will that void the warranty? also, will it come w/ the bypass valve? and it's an aem right?

3. can i just get the air conditioning as an option by itself? because i don't want the extras that come w/ the package, such as mudguards, and the rubber rear bumper protector.. that'll just cause rust in the long run.

here are some cool options standard on the TRD-MSB model in japan.

yo i gotta echo hatch n i think its dope.. i tinted the windows and debadged it so far.. my lowering springs come in tommorrow.. cuz i dont like how high it sits.. i also installed my own cd player.. yes you can get air conditioning as an option and no the factory intake doesnt void warranty.. as long as its TRD stuff and installed by toyota.. but they kinda rip you off.. i dont know how much the air conditioning is but its lots.. like a grand or sumthin.. i chose not to have it.. check it all out at toyota.ca

I own a sedan, its a family car, lots of room in the trunk, can't say there is much room in the hatch though.

Two things

One, if you buy an echo, buy the front plastic hood gaurd. The hood is extremely vertical at the front and after 140,000 Km on our 2000 the hood almost looks as though someone tried to shoot holes in it with a 22 at 1000 yards. (only way I can explain the dints)

Only mechanical problem we had is the water pump had to be replaced at like 119,XXX KM, extended warranty ran out at 120000, bearing was worn. So make sure you check the bearings at 119,000.

Talking

I just got my 3-door blue matallic Echo hatchback today! I'm very excited since this is my first car and I am more than impressed by it.

The AirCon alone costs around $1600 while the AirCon package is only $1200...so I decided to go with the cheaper one.

I found that the car is very spacious for a hatchback. There are lots of head rooms. I'm not a tall person so I actually like the high seats and I have no problem with leg rooms at all.

I think the estimated yearly amount for gas is around $900...pretty cool~

I spent $190 for the CD + MP3 player...figure it'll cost me the same amount, or even more if I were to get one elsewhere.

My Echo is a CE...that's without power steering...which is basically the only thing I'm not quite enjoying. Other than that, everying is good.

I haven't be seeing many new Echo hatchback on the streets of Toronto...which I found to be surprising--but that might just be the reason why I recieved quite a bit of attention on the road today! =)
