Is TRD going to make a ECHO S/C?

Hi! I'm a member of Toyota Nation, but usually stick to the Camry forum as I have a 2000 Camry LE-V6 with a TRD Supercharger. I love the ECHO and would love to get one if TRD makes a supercharger for it. Has anyone heard any news about that? I heard that TRD will make one for the Scion's, so, I'm assuming it will fit the ECHO as it is the same engine. For the people who onw ECHOs...what do you think about them? Are they reliable? What problems have youy had. Are aftermarket products hard to come by? Thanks.

I haven't heard any news about them making a supercharger. But if they do make one for the Scion, then there's no reason why it wouldn't fit the Echo as well. Unless there's some kind of hood clearance issue like there is for the Matrix/Corolla s/c that doesn't fit the Celica.
But in any case, there's been plenty of talk about Toyota releasing a turbocharged version of the Echo straight from the factory. I'm sure there's other people on this board that can give you more details about that. I don't know too much about it.

Am I alone in thinking an extremely fast Echo is a bad idea?

If anything, they will bring out a turbo charger for the echo instead of a supercharger since they already have a Turbo Vitz in production.

Just a note on the Blitz S/C, there's speculation about it costing upwards of 10G canadian, but the pricing is very different between JP and NA, www.elementautoworks.com can get it for much less than that.

Echo Turbo--RHD only

The RS turbo is only available RHD. 1.3L turbo produces 150hp. Same engine as the Startlet GT.

go to Power>Compressor>scroll to the bottom, you'll see Scion. It shares the same engine (1NZ-FE) as the Vitz

Why not?

Folks hop up civics, and Echos stop faster and have better skidpad numbers than the base model civic.
