Hey guys, I am a proud owner of a Toyota 2007 Yaris Sedan. I was wondering if you guys have completed the Checkups as stated? They are very expensive. If not, do you do the check up yourself? Also, Where is the best place to get an air filter for the yaris? I have tried Wal-Mart and Auto Zone and no luck so far. Thanks for your time.
What 15,000 mile checkup? As stated in your owners manual/maintenance schedule? Or a list from the dealer? If its a list from the dealer, forget it! I'm too lazy to go out to my car to check the schedule - but there's very few things that are required. The Yaris/Echo was one of the lowest cost cars to maintain as reported in car n driver in one of their 30k mile tests.

What I recommend at 15 is Air filter, oil change, tire rotation, set pressures, check and clean brakes and general check over. USE OEM PARTS! The parts total is under $50.00. Save youself money in the long run and use a full synthetic such as Amsoil 0-30 signature series and extend oil changes to 15k. You should change the filters (oem) and top off the oil at 7.5k or use the Amsoil oil filter which is ok to 15k.

I would not recommend going 15k miles oil-change-interval on an in-warranty car. That would be really foolish if there's ever an issue. Wait until the car is out of warranty. Nearly all oil filters can easily go 15k miles by the way. The filters are often still good long after the oil needs to be changed.
As to the 15k maintenence, there is not much to do. The Stealerships will have you think otherwise, so buyer beware.
As to finding air/oil filters and other parts for your Yaris, the internet is usually the cheapest place to do that. There are many places on the net. Often, the Stealerships will rape your wallet. In fact, my Stealership wants to charge me $58 to change out the cabin air filter. I did it myself, and it took 20 seconds of labor to do. The filter cost me $14.95 at Auto Zone too.
I wouldnt go 15,000 miles between oilchanges no matter whether the car was still under warranty or not. Change the oil every 5,000 miles, just like it says to do in your owner's manual.
As long as the car isnt acting up, I wouldnt worry about having the 15,000 mile checkup done.
Just do the normal service at that interval: oilchange, rotate tires, check tire pressure, replace air filter.
