Any Echo's with ScanGuage? Tips?

Just purchased a ScanGuage yesterday and did a brief tryout on my '04 Echo. Seems to work well.

As per manufacturer, fuel pressure is not read out and this was expected. Any other guage items not read back to ScanGuage by Echo ECU that users may be aware of? Any tips or tricks?

Since the yaris is so similar to the echo, let's see if these proven methods will apply to you.

1. DFCO.. Deceleration Fuel Cut Off. In 08 model Yarii it's all gears, in 07s, it started with 3rd and lower. It's basically engine braking but with no fuel. Since the Echo might still have it at 3rd gear or less. Try to coast more when you are at speed comprarable to 3rd gear or less. This means coasting up to lights, stops, etc.

If this works... you should see Instant MPG go to 999999.

2. In your multi guage mode, use TPS.. drive with it at 21 TPS. You'll notice that this is the golden number as instant mpgs will shoot up.

3. Use the RPM gauge if you don't have a Tach. Try to stay under 2500 rpms.

4. Newly discovered for the Yaris: "Hangtime"
Attain cruising speed. Now slightly pull off the accelerator. Notice that you aren't slowing down but your instant MPGs just shot up to 100 + mpgs. Hangtime is believed to be associated with the vvt-i system

So try all these if you want to get technical.

Thanks for the reply! New technology for me and will copy the tech parameters you describe once I get my gauge permanently mounted. Will report as much as I can for Echo.

I also put a ScanGauge in my Echo. It's allowed me to almost double my gas mileage.

The Echo from my experience has DFCO down to second gear if you get above about 1200 RPM. It won't go into DFCO if it's cold until much higher (1600) or so but it'll hold as you decelerate, usually down under 1000.
