Exclamation New Tires for Echo

Does anyone have any suggestions for new tires for a 2000 Echo? I bought Yokohama Avid Touring's to replace the Original tires at 30,000 miles but they have only lasted me 23,000 miles and now the tread is virtually all gone. Does anyone know of a good tire which will last longer than that?

Depending on where and how you drive. What you're looking at and what price you want to pay for it, there are so many tires on the market. A tire choosen by someone else could be or not what you realy want or need. There is one good place known: www.tirerack.com where you can select several brands with caracteristics.
Read on tire side: Treadwear number, temperature and traction rate.

Wow that is a short tire life.

Do you have 13 or 14" rims.

We had the 14" upgrade on our car when we bought it and the car came with michelin X1's they lasted about 60,000 miles, rated 80,000. I replaced them with Bridgestone potenza's because although the michelins lasted long they sucked in the rain. I expect about 50,000 or slightly less out of them. I rotate every 10-15,000 miles -- depending on what the wear looks like. I just put Kumho KW11 Lzen Studs on for the winter (I live in Canada).

Here is the consumer reports review for some common all season tires. Best rating on top worst on bottom. Number = price.

Dunlop SP Sport A2
$70
An excellent all-around choice, with the best overall braking. Good rolling resistance. 50,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus
120
An excellent all-around choice, though pricey. Excellent cornering and rolling resistance. No tread-wear warranty.

Continental Conti TouringContact CH95
70
An impressive-handling tire. Very good cornering grip and rolling resistance. 60,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Kelly Charger HR
70
Competent overall, though cornering grip was weakest of this group. Fair rolling resistance. 40,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE
60
A very good dry-weather choice. Poor rolling resistance. 50,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Toyo Proxes TPT
85
A very good choice where winters are mild. Very good rolling resistance. Stiff and relatively noisy ride. 65,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Yokohama Avid H4
70
Competent overall, though unexceptional in most areas. Fair rolling resistance. 45,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Goodyear Eagle LS
80
Competent overall, though dry stops were longest of this group. Excellent rolling resistance. No tread-wear warranty.

Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring HR
70
Competent overall, though wet stops were longest of this group. Excellent rolling resistance. 55,000-mile tread-wear warranty.

Got these as original tires on my Vibe. Impressive handling but with treadwear (360 rated) they wont last up to 60K.
Now I'm 14000Km on meter and most of it been made with winter tires (GoodYear ultragrip ice) and Continental are quite wear (50%) and not driving hardly at all (not at my age...LOL).
Thanks for great source of info, I'll take a look at these others, soon.
