Question Oil Color?

I recently bought a brand new yaris, the car has 300 miles on it so far. I checked the engine oil and it appears to be a greenish color. I was wondering if thats normal? I know brand new cars come with the factory oil specified to help engine break in, but I just want to make sure thats what it is and not anti-freeze lol.

kthxbye

The green color is something I don't remember seeing in my Yaris when it was new. It could be break-in additive, but I don't know for sure. What bothers me about that green color is that the anti-freeze is also that color....could there be a leak of anti-freeze into the oil? You'd better have the dealer check this out. Gasket problem? I would not drive the car much until you can determine if the green oil is an issue or not.

When all else fails, take it back to the dealer. If they say thats normal, get it documented. That way, if you have problems later on, they cant pin it on you.

Are you sure you're not color blind???

My new Yaris has "normal" colored oil. A golden color when new, and turning to brown as the miles accumulate.

Glad to hear it's not green. You had a lot of people scratching their heads.
