Yaris Test Drive

I am very interested in a new Yaris, but my local Toyota dealers can not keep them in stock long enough for me to catch one on the lot to test drive.

Each time I have ask about a test drive, I get well we expect one in next week.

Bet I could get a test drive in a new Tundra pickup as they appear to have about 40 of those setting around on the lot, mpg rating of 13 mpg city.

I did see a person driving a Yaris today, but did not get to talk with him about his car.

I want to stay with Toyota when I buy my next vehicle, but I want to get 40 mpg. So the Yaris 2 door is the only vehicle at this time that gets close to that mileage, that I can get into.

Oh, by the way, I did get to set in a Corolla the other day, but it was sold, so I could not test drive the car, but it was a 4 door and I could not get in/out, guess most of these cars are make for people that weight about 110-150 lbs. I guess the fuss will slow down when the pipe line gets filled up and the rush is over buying the small cars.

Not sure where Hazel KY is but your dealer must be really small. Toyota dealers around here have a dozen or so Corollas, another dozen Matrix, and at least half that many Yaris in stock to sell. Maybe a trip to a larger city dealer would help?

I'm told that the Corollas get as good as the Yaris in real world fuel economy.

I am sure you are right, but I have just gone by the local dealers when I had time and was in town.

I could not get in/out of the Corolla very well, only small vehicle I have sat in that I could get in/out OK was the Yaris 2 door hatchback.

Do you have a Yaris and are you satisfied with it's performance and quality?

I don't have a Yaris but I did test drive a 2 door before buying the xB. It was WAY too slow for my tastes and not that much cheaper than the competition. I only paid 17500 for the xB and it blows it away in features, performance, and comfort.

Not saying you should buy an xB, just that the Yaris was unimpressive.

Just bought a Yaris 4-Door

Love it.
It was the last one in central arkansas... i too had a hard time getting a test drive.

a man brought it back a few days earlier and got a corolla... he wanted something with more power.

the Yaris for me is fine on power. The interior is impressive... I call it the Tardis instead of Yaris.

I'm about 190 lbs... 5feet 11...

and I don't have any problems getting in and out.

Still waiting on a mileage average... still haven't ran a tank of gas through it.

it had 511 miles when i bought it... they certified it after the dude brought it back so I got 7 year, 100000 mile warranty.

I'm happy.
my advise... is, research. if you are in the market for a yaris-type vehicle... lick the first one you see to claim it as your own.

later.
adam.

After 5 trouble free years with a Toyota Echo i gave the Echo to my daughter and bought a Pacific Blue 08 Yaris sedan,it was the last one on the dealers lot.I'm 5'8" and 220lbs and i have no trouble getting in or out of the car,I just got back from a 5wk cross country trip, the car was loaded down with wife and kids and average mpg on the trip was between 40-45 and nobody complained that they were uncomfortable at any point in the trip and the car performed flawlessly. This car isnt that fast and some might even call it gutless, pulling out to pass some one on a 2 lane road takes patience and timing so if you have a lead foot this car will definitely disappoint but it is more than capable of cruising at 80+mph all day on the interstates although its frugal nature is best at around 60mph.So if you are looking for a reliable and economical daily drive the 4dr Yaris sedan is my choice, the hatchback is also now available in 4dr.
