Fuel pump kicked on when parked

I have an 08 yaris

I was in my garage just a minute ago, and as I closed my tailgate I heard a pump going off, (it wasn't very loud so I thought I was coming from outside since it's been raining all day and still is) so I looked around to figure out where the sound is coming from, when I looked under the car I realized its coming from under the rear of the car, right where the fuel tank is, which I think was the fuel pump. I grabbed my keys and turned the ignition on and off and the sound was gone.

Anyone had the same/similar experience? I just thought it was strange, I don't want the fuel pump to be running overnight while I'm dead asleep. lol

It's fine right now so I don't think I have to worry about it anymore.

-thanks

It is probably your emission system running test on the evap system, it is a vacuum pump draw the system down to check for leak. In some case, it might be a few hours after the car had been switch off.

That's what it is. There's something in the owners manual about it (don't remember where).
