USA Tire Size for 07 Yaris 4dr Sedan

So I have a question that I think can be answered here. My wife and I have an 07 Yaris with 44,000 miles on it and are now in need of tires. Well I did not know that the stock 185/60/15R size was an awkward one and costs a bit more.

My question is, should I stick with the stock size or can I go with a tire sized 195/60/15R?

Thanks any and all that can answer this for us. We have talked to about 4 different tire places and I can't really get an answer that I am comfortable with as far as taking the larger size.

My 2008 sedan rides great with 195's.
No rubbing, actually makes leaving parking areas easier,as I would rub the front air dam when going over deep dips with the 185's.
I thought the 185's looked way too small.
I bought snows and will probably try some 205's for summer.

Just to be clear 185 vs 195 is tire-width, so it should not raise the height of the vehicle at all. The "60" is sidewall height, so if you went from a 60 to a 65 or 70, that might raise the vehicle and cause rubbing (at the 70 height - 65 should still be ok).

In the end though, you're right - 195 should be no problem; it's only 10 millimeters we're talking about.

I think Toyota was trying to compromise with the 185's to give it a slightly more aggressive appearance while maintaining good fuel economy. I'll be replacing our Yaris' tires with 195's when it's time (and not those crappy Bridgestone's either).

Actually all the specs go up slightly as the sidewall height also changes.

the 60 is a percentage of the width of the tire, so the height will actually go up by about 3mm (1/8")

195 60's will work fine
