I bought a used toyota 2007 yaris CE model last october 2008 from a Suzuki dealer. Just yesterday the lights on my dashboard just went off dead (ie. no lights on the speedometer when i turn on my head lights but lights on engine/abs/clock is working when i do not turn on gthe headlights).
My questions are:
1. Is my understanding correct that since my cars odometer is still less than 40000kms, the car is still under warranty? If so, the manufacturer (toyota) will be able to do both an electrical check and replace the necessary parts (ie. bulbs), if required, FOR FREE since the car is still under warranty, right?
2. if such service in not included in the warranty, how do i replace the bulb or check check the electricals? is it expensive to have someone check and replce the parts for such a problem?
Hope somebody can help me out with my problem.
Thanks in advance!
Should be bumper to bumper, unless the part had been modified, like aftermarket bulbs. After the regular warranty, there are also the Powertrain and Emission warranty, which are different.
Did you get any owner's manual with the car?
N.E.O.

yap i have the owenrs' manual. why?
also, would the warranty be affected if i had a car starter installed?
What I am saying is that if the problem that you are having is not a result of or cause by what you have installed. For example, you install the remote starter system, and the radio shorted out because of the remote starter system, then there is no warranty on that. However, if you install the system and the suspension makes noise, there is no connection between that what you had done, then warranty should cover that.
You better make sure you didn't leave something unplugged when the remote starter system was installed. Were the lights working before the remote starter system was installed?

yap, the lights were working before and after the remote starter was installed...
I also had a bad experience with a Suzuki dealer a few years ago here in Montreal. the beautiful 2yr old demo i purchased turned out to have been a restored write off,the car literally fell apart shortly after the warantee expired and ended up being scrapped before it reached 20k kms,the problems started with strange electrical problems.legal action got my money back but i was quite surprised that Canada's largest Suzuki dealer would stoop to selling renovated wrecks to make a buck.
As for remote starters ?i've had a lot of friends who have had electrical problems after a shoddily installed remote starter, seems they tap into the main wiring harness to wire these things and shorts can result or the system may not be compatible with some electronic component.
