European Union engine noise Yaris 99

hi, I have Toyota yaris (vitz) 99. I noticed that during acceleration, there is noise from the engine for some time. I investigated it and discover that if I put some lubricant or grease on place witch I marked on picture the noise disappear. Unfortunately after one or two days noise appear again. I suspect that the bearing is gone. Can you advise am I right and if it's possible to change the bearing myself? regards, Lukas

It could be the belt also, if the bearing is faulty the dealer sells the whole pulley, but still a quick repair, you can do it yourself nicely.

belt squeal

the only thing you should put on it, if at all, is belt dressing.

make sure the belt is properly tensioned

I've reduced but not eliminated the squeak on my car (1nz-fe) to low rpm moderate throttle by making the belt tighter.

As i see in your pics, the water pump is the bigger pulley at the left of the arrow. The one you're pointing at is just a guiding pulley.
