i've read that the echo platform is similar if not identical to that of the tercel/paseo. that being said, would paseo coilover suspension bits work on the echo with no modification?
if so, who manufactures coil overs? i'm just looking for the sleeves really, i got my own springs...

Yes, those platforms are almost identical. But not exactly. There are a few key differences. The coilovers should fit on the front with no problem (as far as I know). But the rear could be more difficult. When the Echo came out, the rear suspension was switched to the type where the springs and the shocks are mounted separately (like on a Ford Focus), not with the springs over top of the shocks like normal. But even then, it should work, on the condition that there is enough space around the shock housing for the coilover spring to physically fit.
I make no guarantees here. I've never actually seen the mounting points on the Echo's suspension, so I don't really know for sure that it can be done without any modification. All I really know is that they didn't make any significant changes between the chassis.

trd echo springs merely are eibach sportline which have crappy rates i'd like to put on something better....especially considering that the echo has no rear swaybar, i'm sure it needs quite a bit of help in the handling department.
so has anyone found coilover kits for the echo here in canada yet? all i want are the sleeeeeeeves! :o

Boro, you can order some HKS and some Tein coilover for your echo ... if you have a hatch your chasis code should be NCP13, while the 2dr and the 4dr here in state side is considered NCP12... Now if you dont want to spend big cash for the coilovers ... Then may I suggest purchasing Ground Controls coilover sleeves, made for the Echo sedan. This should help out in your suspension department. Theres also Koni adjustables shocks you can buy that was made for the Echo sedan. So sisnce the echo sedan is alittle more heavier the spring rates on the ground control and the shock dampening in the konis should be really really tight on your hatch.
Tanabe has a nice set of frame braces for the echo. And TRD also sell a TRD rear brace for the Echo also which was originally off a Vitz which a Echo Hatch back in Japan.
wow u are a man with good information. thanks a bunch! i'll be looking into this
