2000 echo wont run

this car has 297000 miles and has been great. Last week parked and now wont start. I have spark and fuel but does not run. It hit as it turns over, tryed a few things like compresion is about 90 to 95 per cylinder, fuel pump is pumping, put in a set of plugs but had no effect. Is there a way to check crankshaft and cam sensors ??? or am I looking in the wrong direction.

thanks for any help

Sure you have adequate cranking voltage? Is it cranking slower than normal?

I was going to post again and suggest trying exactly that this morning, but had to run to church. That suggests a problem with the fuel. Gas with ethanol in it will separate into two phases if it gets just a little bit of water in it. The bottom phase in the tank is mostly alcohol with some water, and your engine won't start on that. I'm suspicious something like that may be your problem.

Sounds like either bad gas or not enough. Is it possible the fuel pump is not putting out enough pressure anymore?

If there's water in your gas, you may try buying some Fuel Dry or some other additive designed to clean it up.

If the fuel pump has been slowly dying you would have probably noticed the car get sluggish before now.

Fuel drying additives are generally alcohols. If the alcohol has separated from the gas due to water, it'll be hard to add enough alcohol to get it back in solution with the gasoline. May require draining.

You might have pulled enough of the separated fuel out of the bottom of the tank to start sucking good gas into the pump, if the bad gas theory was correct.

Problem with Echo is back, car would not start. Pulled crank sensor out and checked ohms. its only reading 1.3 on gauge. Cleaned sensor up put it back in and car started right away. I can not remember for sure but thinking I read some place it should be 7 to 8 for sensor, anybody have any idea what it should be reading.
