Loose A/C compressor vibration damper

This is my first post so be gentle:

This morning I happened to be looking in my engine compartment ('07 Yaris Sedan) and found a round metal wheel sitting on the splash pan to the left of the radiator. The hole in the center is threaded and it looks like it belongs on the threaded end of the A/C compressor.

I am guessing that it is a vibration damper and it looks like it has been sitting there for a long time. I can screw it back on to the shaft but I don't know how it is supposed to be locked on.

The A/c seems to be functioning perfectly.

Thanks for the update. The dealer is going to change the whole compressor under warranty. I just wanted to find out if the weight hub could be reattached as I am uneasy about having the A/C system opened.

No-one at my dealer had ever seen this before and had no clue as to whether it could be re-attached.

Don't worry, there's no problem replacing your compressor, it seems that part is a cover to keep ice from building up in the compressor pulley area.

Thanks Stevo. I feel more comfortable now and I'll be sure to pass this on to the dealer.
