Unhappy cant shift into gear??? (2000 echo 5 spd )

i tried searching but theres nothing specific to this.

the car was driving fine up until tonight when the shifter stopped clicking into any gear, not even reverse it feels like jelly when im shifting it. could it be the shift linkage???

Its possible for it to be the cable. Has the clutch pedal been feeling normal? If the pedal feels soft or doesn't return to the top of its travel, check the slave cylinder. Its mounted to the front of the trans. Have someone push the clutch pedal while you watch it. If only moves a little or not at all, suspect either a leaky slave cylinder, broken fluid line or bad slave master cylinder.

sounds like one of the cables came off the transmission, With the car off have someone shift through all the gears while you check under the hood (they should connect to the tranny near the top on the driver side)
