just realized, its maintenance required light, not check engine... I connected the device where you said, but its not detecting that message.... I dont know why maintenance required light would come on, i just did a oil change few weeks ago then this started happening...

Your device should be showing a numbered code which you can decode by posting the number on a forum and some one will tell you what it refers to,there should be a way to clear that code and resulting dash gauge reminder light with your code reader device,if not the light is probably not a problem code but just an outside circuit that is timed to come on when the dealer wants money, If your car is new and under warranty i would talk to the dealer about it just incase ignoring it compromises your warranty in some way.

The maintenance requred light works on a timer triggered by your mileage. It starts flashing at about 4500 from when you LAST RESET the light and stays on after 5000 miles. The light isn't smart enought to know that you changed it before the 5k so you will need to reset it. IF you had it done, they may have forgotten to reset it and I do believe you can reset it even before it comes on.

The maintenance light is not connected to the OBDII port and you can not reset it from there.

1. Set key to ON and put your trip meter to Trip A.
2. Key in ignition back on ACC.
3. Press and hold the trip reset button while simultaneously twisting the key to ON (don't start the car).
4. IF it works, you'll se the trip meter start counting down dashes that appeared, once they all disappear, you'll see 0000000 across and the light should have turned off.

*notes, it's either the Trip A or just the regulary trip. Check your Manual for more info.

Once it's reset, the light will come on again after another 4500 miles.

Smile

It's a lot easier to reset it many times than to pull a bulb.
