Canada 2004 Toyota echo winterizing

I know it's going to be another 2 months till I really have to worry about cold weather but can anyone tell me how to repair inner door moldings, or where to find a kit to do that or is the only real option a dealer replacement? I'm referring to the thick hollow inner-tube like molding where the door closes on the front driver side... I have a tear thats about 1 1/2" long and its not just a simple rip, its tearing in a few directions, not bad yet but as soon as any moisture and freezing happens its going to be a real mess. I don't really want to go too getto about it either... I've seen some people stick bicycle inner tube patches over tears. I'd rather not do that, but I'm afraid to ask how much a dealer replacement would cost, and I've already checked with walmart and canadian tire, they don't have anything to repair it.

That's called the door seal. They're a little hard to fix and not be ghetto about it, so the only good way to go about it is to get new ones or try to find a wreck with good ones. You could try an RTV silicone though, holds up to temperature change well and is very water resistant.

Canada 2004 Toyota echo winterizing

Going with your subject "2004 Toyota echo winterizing" first thing I did was get a corrosion prevention treatment. Regarding the weather seal, I got a complete two door kit for my 15 yr old Dodge Ram from J.C.Whitney mail order for under $150 delivered to my door. That included window channels and belt seals too, so your need should be much cheaper. Just google jcwhitney and you'll find it.
