Unhappy CEL... but no codes?

I got another CEL (check engine light) the other day, had a friend hook up his OBDII scanner and it picked up no codes, just saying like 5 of the sensors were not responding?

My first question is maybe his scanner is just junk??? looked cheap to me.... but if this is common, why would several sensors stop sending a signal? Also after he cleared the CEL, it came back a few days later... though I have yet to get it scanned again... any idea guys?

+1 and try a different scanner.

I've fount codes in a transmission/body (ect.) control module. If your scanner can check those too.

Thanks guys, I'll try another scanner. Also I think I know the cause, this all happened after going to the dealer for an inspection. I gotta pump the gas very slow or it keeps shutting the pump off. Also when I open the gas cap i hear alot of air being sucked in to blown out.... So I'll need to have the vent or whatever it is looked at.

Check the breather tube next to the filler neck (77226-52020) it sometimes plugs up with rust

I'm seeing OBD II scanners on sale around $50-, .... Mine was twice that a few years ago and still has paid for itself in convenience and peace of mind, ... long way around to recommend you get one. You code charts get outdated but there are up-to-date charts all over the Net. FWIW
