Some Stereo Wiring Confusion

I got a really good black friday deal on a nice aftermarket head unit that blends really well with the stock interior (dont want to get my car broken into)
Its a pioneer something or other.

I got the old radio out no problems and then all i can say is
WTF!!!!!

WHY are the speaker wires solid red, black, yellow and white. On any other anything these would be the power wires. So far I was only able to decipher and hook up the rear speakers as I needed to finish soon for some family time.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram? All the other wires that look like they would be the stereo wires are power wires and other stuff. I just need to know which ones go to the front speakers, I tried many combinations and couldnt get the front speakers figured out.

Im sure there is probably a adapter but I was in a hurry and have always been able to hook a stereo up without one in under twenty minutes.

Thanks in advacne.

Thank you so much! is this for the six speaker system?
Where did you find this.

I forgot I will use the use of my dash speakers with this unit! but I think I am gonna route the front head unit channel to the dash speakers and stash a small 2 channel under the head unit space for the front speakers.

Also I see two yellow wires mentioned, are they one wire?

Handy trick for locating speaker wires is take an old 9V dry cell, put small wires on the posts and wipe them on speaker wires, ... you'll hear which speaker emits static. Just be sure it's speaker wires you're testing (that link above is very good btw) so you don't damage anything else

Well I finished. The wire guide above is accurate for the back two speakers if you have the six speaker system. So it is a good start. For some reason the wire listed as the remote/ignition wire didnt work for me. So I just tapped the 'cigarette lighter' for a remote line.

Dont even get me started on the door speakers! they are held on by those plastic clip things and the mount and the speaker are a one piece unit. If you want to put new door speakers in, you will need a drill to drill your own mounting holes into the metal.

I know this was a long time in the making but since I couldnt find any help online I would like to write down the stereo wiring diagram for an 02 echo with the six speaker system.

Constant 12v - gray wire
Ground - there is a nice bolt on the bottom right side of the DIN area. Use that
Ignition - Hook into your 12 socket line.

Left front - Purple + Pink -
Right front - Teal + Blue -
Left rear - Yellow + Red -
Right rear - White + Blank -

Hope this helps some people. I would like to note that this is JUST WHAT I FOUND ON MY CAR. Your 02 echo may not be the same, but if you have the same color wires it probably is. Use caution or have some micro fuses ready :p
