Canada Fuel smell during cold idle in '03 Echo

My 2003 Echo has a fuel smell during idle when I first start it up. Once the engine warms up the smell goes away. It seems to be running fine otherwise. This problem only started this fall.
Any ideas?

I've owned the vehicle since 2003 and this is the first year I noticed it.

I'll have to check for a leak in the exhaust. Thanks for the tip.

Didn't notice it while reversing, it's not really any louder either. I don't really smell it too much in the cabin unless I warm it up for a while in the garage. It just stinks like a spilled some gas when I first start it when the engine is cold.

I'll poke around underneath tonight if I have time and see if I can detect a leak.

Thanks for the warnings. I normally don't warm it up in the garage, but it happens now and then. I have a detached shop/garage with overhead doors on both ends, so ventilation is good. Still I don't normally do it as it stinks up the car and the shop.
