Defrost or Heat control switch

Hi there, just bought a 2001 echo 4dr.Have a few issues will use separate threads.

My heat comes out fine, the fan switch works fine. It`s the defrost switch. The air flow does not come up through the venting on the windshield for the defrost,or down toward my feet in that setting.

when i use the dial{or switch} and turn it it seems to spring back a touch not goi ng down all the way to defrost,or the very beginning.Any suggestions? Is it a cable?Or the Switch....which part should i buy from the wrecker? Thanks

it's a cable
you probably just need to re-adjust it but i don't know how to get there

try:
pull out the 3 knobs and unscrew the screws that are behind them
pull it out, but be careful and check for any wiring that might be snagged

then, see if you can find where the cable is causing the problem (put the knob back on and turn to see where it's catching)
