So after I replaced my battery and subsequently couldn't get the 2000 Echo to start, (see
this thread), I decided to go out and try it today after about a week of it sitting doing absolutely nothing. It very nearly started on first try: after some additional cranking and a little pedal pumping, I got her started up!
I let it idle and grabbed my OBD-II tool. Even after warming up fully, I've got short term fuel trim at about -12 to -14% and long term fuel trim was -19.5%, timing at about 10.5 degrees (these are what I'm recalling from memory, I'll post exact figures as well as other data from my laptop if needed). After a couple of times turning off the car and seeing if it would start again (it fired right back up), the trim was still at this level. Wait, there's more: now, I've got a pending DTC of P0172.
The Toyota shop manual has a whole section on P0171, but not P0172...so I'm a little stuck now. I did a basic "jiggle the electrical connectors" diagnostic in the engine compartment, and pulled out the air filter. The filter had a little bit of old dead grass in it and was all around grimy, so I'm off to get a new one right now. What else should I be checking out?
Thanks!
