Doing at-home service on 1NZ 1.5 Echo....ideas?

Hi all,

I'm going to service my Echo myself for the first time in a few days. I was wondering if any of you had suggestions in terms of what to check, what to replace, etc.

I'm thinking:

- spark plugs
- oil filter
- oil
- air filter
- radiator fluid
- fuel filter

It's just gone 100,000km. Should I be doing something with transmission fluid as well? I also know that this model has an in-tank fuel filter. Has anyone replaced this themselves before? Sorry if I sound massively n00bish or ask stupid questions, I just want to make sure this is all done right rather than screw up and hurt my car and at the same time I really want to be able to do this myself. I have a mechanic mate that will look over everything after it's done to make sure all is well, but in the meantime I'd love any advice

- air filter change when dirty
- radiator fluid every 64 000 kms
- fuel filter never ever unless you need too (something in the tank)

Sparkplugs = put some anti seize lubricant on the threads, check the gap, dont overtorque them when installing.
Oil Filter = make sure the old rubber gasket comes out with the old filter,
Oil= dont over tighten the drain bolt and use a new crush washer.'
Air filter+make sure its the right way up.
Radiator fluid = mix new fluid 50/50 with water.
Fuel filter = dont bother.
Welcome to the forum.

There's a service schedule on the toyota.com website.

Just visit this link, choose your model, year and mileage from the drop down lists, and it'll tell you what is recommended to be changed at that particular mileage interval:
