cruise control - add on

I found a 08 model Yaris that I like, 50K miles, 5 speed, hatchback. Just what I was looking for, but it does not have cruise control and I want cruise.

Before I make a offer on the little car, has anyone ever had toyota dealer install crusie control on their yaris, if so, did the unit work ok and what did it cost.

Are there other aftermarket cruise control unit out there. performance and cost??

The saleman said they had installed aftermarket units on the little cars before and didnot have good results.

Thanks for your reply,

Might be better off to just buy a car with factory installed cruise control.

I just finished installing a cruise control from www.thecruisecontrolstore.com on my '01 Echo. The kit comes with everything you need and they have model specific kits. It works great, but the installation was a bit challenging (locating the correct wires to splice into was very difficult). Definitely worth it!

Canada Aftermarket CC

I got a AudioVox CCS-100 from JC Whitney mail-order for under $100(Cdn) IIRC. It's a bear to install but if you're up to it the saving is substantial. It's worked well for over 10,000km. The toughest thing for me was locating the tiny sensor wires, and my local friendly Toyota parts guy gave me a copy of the install instruction for the factory unit which was clear as to where these little devils are. Let us know what you end up doing, ...
