Blower Motor Resistor Change???

Hey everyone, I have a 2003 Toyota Echo. I have gone a few months without air conditioning and have narrowed it down to the blower motor resistor. I have purchased the part, but haven't been able to locate the old one to replace it. I have done several searches, and most of them return vague directions to it's location. I did see a writeup with someone putting in an entire a/c unit, and there was a picture where the oval/circle piece on the dash in front of the passenger seat was removed. It looked like it just popped off, but on mine it says SRS Airbag on it and I don't want to set the airbag off. Can someone please help me?? I live in AZ and we had our first 100 degree day today. It's behind the glove box, under a larger cover held in by some hidden screws.
I don't have the exact procedure in front of me but is is gonna take you a little while to get at.
