Echo 2005 brake issue

HI

I own an Echo 2005 sedan automatic with 65000KM. In the last week i noticed that when i brake at low speeds, l hear a "Tack" sound when i first apply the brake. It brakes fine except for that noise. What can the problem be?

Thanks
Robert

sounds like you need to "service" the brakes, take everything apart clean and reassemble

It could be as simple as removing and ensuring the wheels are re torqued properly.

I ve got a similar problem. But mine is a whisteling noise as soon as i touch the brake pedal. The noise is coming from the rear brakes...any suggestions?..im thinking its time to change the brakes at the back...

Its either the brakes or the wheel bearings. I recently went in for my tranmission (of course two places couldn't find anything with that) but both places said I needed new wheel bearings. I didn't believe them cause its an econo car with no sound deadening so of course you'll hear tire noise or whatever. But it was the bearings cause i got the back ones replaced and its quieter. Pricey but quieter. Of course it would be more pricey if I left it alone.

THe mechanic said my rear drums were showing signs of wear, or to the point of needing replacement, but that's a little off for me.

The mechanic said that the pads are moving in the caliper causing the noise. He applied a silicon but a couple of days later the problem returned. What can it be ? The caliper?

Thanks

You bring up an EXCELLENT point that many people overlook.
Yes these cars are going to be loud, they are small thin metaled cars with no sound deadening. Even with everything running 100% you are going to hear some things.

I once tore down a bmw 7 and that car had more insulation under one seat then an entire echo/yaris

Where I am the roads are so bad sometimes it sounds like something is failing when its not.
