2000 Echo bogs down when trying to accelerate quickly

My friend has a 2000 w 120k+ mi. It starts and idles well enough, it also accelerates smoothly when accelerating slowly. The transmition shifts fine, and it has no problem maintaining highway speeds. The problem comes in when trying to accelerate quickly. With the petal pushed to the floor it bogs down and looses speed.

If anyone has encountered this, or knows what it is being caused by, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Yessir, i checked it all myself. All vacuum lines seem to be hooked and intact, the throttle body and mass air sensor are clean and the tune up was done several months ago. It is dropping codes p0171 and p0110.

If you go to "You Tube" and punch in "Toyota Echo Fuel Pump" there was a very descriptive demonstration on how to replace a fuel pump. You will find it very helpful!!!

Did this problem start after the tune up?? Could it be the coils??

i feel that the two things may not be linked. i cleared the codes and drove it. The codes did not come back until the next day, but the problem was still there
