Echo-stalling, stopping, dying while driving
Hello! I just got a Toyota Corolla (09) yesterday but I'm curious as to what was wrong with my Echo. It was a 2002 with 136K miles. For the last year or so, I've had issues with it.
Sometimes, when I go somewhere and then get back in the car to leave, it will start up and die, and then I start it up again and it works. Always takes 2 times for it to work when this happens.
When I put gas in my car, it will always take 3 times to start it up again. The first time it will start and die, the second time it will try to start but won't, the third time it takes it a minute to start up but it eventually will.
The check engine light always comes on (its been reset several times).
The other day, it died while I was driving after leaving a drive thru.
I took it to Firestone immediately afterwards and they said my air filter was dirty and I needed an oil change so I did that and it still stalls like it wants to die on me but it hasn't done that since it did the other day. Its stalling a lot worse than before though.
I've taken it to at least 5 places to have my car checked for these issues. Midas, two different Tires Plus locations, Firestone, and two different toyota dealerships. No one can find anything wrong. Extensive diagnostic tests have been done. No leaks have been found, nothing. I've had tune ups, oils changes, new battery put in, etc and still get the same problems.
I would have kept it being that I just recently paid it off but I can't find whats wrong and I can't risk it dying on me while I'm on the road again.
Any clues as to what was wrong?
