Did we pay too much 1n 2008 for a 2007 Yaris?

Hi!

Not crying over spilled milk here or anything resembling sour grapes but just curious...

2 years ago (August 2008), my daughter and I bought a used 2007 Yaris Sedan from Sterling McCall Toyota in Houston for her to drive. The car had about 15,000 miles on it and in very good condition. 3rd party alarm, power windows, CD, etc., so a little above "basic".

I researched the various dealers in the area and most were in the $14K range for this model and year at that time.

I now realize that this was probably too much to pay even though that seemed to be the going local rate.

This is when gas was $4.00/gallon and no one seemed to know where that ceiling was, so I'm wondering if the various dealers were bumping up the prices as the Yaris was/is considered pretty fuel efficient?

Current value is probably around $7K so, needless to say, she's "upside down".

As mentioned...just getting some input.

Thanks a lot!

Buzzy

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm pretty sure I checked kbb.com, as well during the August 2008 time period.

I'm thinking for what you payed for that used one you could have got a new one,but dont loose any sleep over it as the deal is done and its not really out of the ball park and you have a reliable economical car for the next 300k
Welcome to the forum Buzzy

He's saying in a nice way, you got screwed, especially if you paid $14,000? You could buy a new one today for roughly the same amount. Oh well, Live and learn.

Thanks, Jambo101 and Zythr.

Yeah, live and learn...I know I did compare prices back then including (as mentioned) kbb.com and that seemed to be the cost locally at the time.(?)

Oh, well...

Buzzy
