So I was on my way to work today and stopped at road construction.
I see a cadillac come flying up and its obvious he wasnt stopping in time.
Nothing I could do but watch.
He hits me and I see his hood crumple and steam goes everywhere.
My first thought is "so this is the end of my little Ech"
I get out and look and to my amazement there is NOT A SCRATCH on the echo (I have the plastic city bumpers) and the 2003 cadillac devile is about 4 inches shorter, busted headlights, broken hood, smashed bumper and its radiator and AC condenser were both smashed in.
All I need is a new exhaust. It bent my muffler and broke a gasket up front.
Unfortunately this sucks for me because the guy gave the cop an insurance card and a few hours later my insurance calls me and tells me it was a phony card and hes not covered. Uninsured motorist so I have to pay my deductible up front and hopefully they get it back from him.
All in all this car is proving to be mightier than meets the eye. I got it from a friend who had a similar thing happy with a BMW 7 and the echo won that one too haha! This is just what I got it for because I would start a street fight over someone hitting my other cars :p

lol.. Sweet. I'm glad you're okay and the echo had relatively low damage vs the caddy.
I don't ever want to find out if my car will make it the same way, if you don't mind.

Money saved is money for a project ehh? Good luck with the project.

More good news, they are giving me 3k to fix it!
Ill get it done for under 600 easy! (not including my brakes which are damaged)
Im thinking the duraflex body kit and letting the rest finance the misc parts I need to turbo it
I got hit in the back of my car on the drivers side last winter (09). I thought too my car was damaged badly in the back (truck) cause a van hit it. Nope, it was slightly dented but mostly scratched. The tail light was still in tacked, a little moved but otherwise fine but it got replaced anyway. Sweet!
That's awesome! SOme extra dough. I'm surprised they gave you that much but hey, more power to you. Best of luck, glad you're okay!

well an echo getting rear ended and taking it. hmm you know i swear the echo was the featured car of brokeback mountain. but i guess its performance proves it. all i can say to this thread is at least its a toyota. and not a focus or one of those new stupid ford fiesta did you see the commercial with people jumping out of manholes come on.
You know I thought the same thing before I got this car. To be honest I have driven the competition, early 2000s accents, focuses, kias, and even neons and cavaliers and the echo is just a better performing car (mine is very light, under 2000lbs) (obviously excluding srt4s and stuff like that)
Ugly as sin from a few angles but I still love it.
Cant beat going to the end of a merge lane and squeezing between two cars and saving yourself 20 minutes of chicago traffic

I had that happen with my Mustang once....only with a goose. I was driving down the highway at 70 mph and nothing I could do but watch it run in front of me, and I hit it head on. The only damage my car had was a bent license plate. That was it!!! There were goose feathers EVERYWHERE! Kinda gross but I didn't even ruin the alignment, pop a tire, dent the oil pan, or anything. A small dent in the radiator. I was pretty impressed.
But yes, Echo's are pretty darn awesome. I'd put one against a crappy Cavalier any day.
