Australia 2005 Echo Door Lock Faulty

Hi all,

Hoping someone might be able shed some light on an issue that has been occuring with my 2005 Toyota Echo.

Problem:

Front Passenger door lock -
After the car has been locked and someone tries to open the door, the door obviously doesnt open.
However when going to pull the lock up to unlock the door, the lock doesnt come up all the way (jammed), and the door then has to be opened from the outside.

This has been an ongoing issue where sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesnt.

The toyota dealer has already looked at the car and advised that the locking mechanism was faulty and would need to be replaced; to which the locking mechanism has been replaced by the very same dealer.

However...the problem now is that its happening again with the new locking mechanism installed

So my question is has someone experienced the same thing or if it could be another underlying problem, or if this has been discussed before - that someone could provide me with the thread.

Dont really want to keep throwing cash at the dealership to fix a problem that was apparently fixed

Any help would be great.

Cheers

I'm also having a similar issue with a 2000 echo. What was the final outcome?

Unfortunately i cant quite remember the details around the fault... i think it was because the actuator was sticking.

However the locking mechanism was replaced again, and haven't had a problem since.
