UUGGG!! Rusty Exhaust!!

My wife's 2000 echo's exhaust is very rusty. Only the pipes though. It had an exhaust leak in the rear where the main pipe connects to the muffler (which I fixed) and now it has a leak in the front where a hangar is welded to the pipe! I welded one up but the pipe is so thin it's like paper and impossible to weld the other. What can I do other than replace the whole pipe which costs a fortune?? Do they sell pieces of pipe that I can weld to the catalytic converter?

Use thin walled steel fence post.
I use this on high performance cars with zero issue, it is also a weight reduction.

Yes, NEPA=Northeast Pennsylvania but that wasn't the question...

Getting straight pipe would not be a problem but this pipe has bends in it. I found piece from advanced auto that looks like it would replace from the header pipe to the catalytic converter but I'm not sure what modifications would be involved (if any). Anyone replace this piece before? What does everyone else do when their exhaust rusts?
