Tire help! 2005 Toyota Echo

Can anyone help by telling me if this tire size could fit on my 2005 Toyota Echo? They are winter tires - 195/75/14.

Thanks

Pretty sure they're too big. check out this site to see for yourself: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

There's lots of winter tires on kijiji right now

You should stay within 3% to not have any problems.

Hi Stevo,

Like many others, I'm cheap shopping on Kijiji for winter rubber with wheels (so I can make the switch myself).
I'm familiar with the 175/65R14 designation, but how are (steel) wheels described? I've seen 14 x 6 and 14 x 5.5 used on www.1010tires.com. 14 is the diameter in inches (same as the tire), and the 6 is the width of the 'seat' in inches (and the closest measurement to this is the 175 (cm) of the tire).

Is there a metric designation for wheels?

The rim size you need is 14X5.5 bolt pattern is 4 x 100 hub size is 54.1 and the offset is +45

jobber rims should sell for 50 - 55 $ each
OEM rims 55 - 60 each

Hi Stevo,

OK, so if I were to provide someone a complete description of the wheels and tires I wanted to buy (assuming stock), it would be...
  • 175/65R14
  • 14X5.5
  • bolt pattern is 4 x 100
  • hub size is 54.1
  • offset is +45
When you think of it, it's a weird mixture of metric and imperial, both centimeters and inches used in the same specs.

BTW, what's a jobber rim? Something cheap?

Thanks.

Jobber means a non-OEM part (not made by Toyota-likely made in China)

wheel sizes just look stupid in metric.

I mean 355.6 mm x 139.7 mm is just a crazy mouthful.

the rest of the measurements are established by the manufacturers, and since the majority of them are overseas, everyone just migrated to metric.

And the 65 is a ratio. just to be different.

You can still buy tires measured in inches, but they are for older cars, when they measured them in inches for all cars.

Also, the offset can be slightly different, it does not need to be exact.

For example discount tires sell 14" steel wheels that fit these cars, but with a +39 offset instead of a +45. Oh, and they are $40.
