Pictures of Powder Coated Camshaft Cover

Check out the pictrues of the camshaft cover I had powder coated. I purchased a used 2000 Echo cover and glass beaded it at home and then had the cover powder coated. There is a sheet metal plate inside the cover that must be some kind of deflection plate. I removed the plate (rivets) to make sure that there was no sand left in the cover which may cause damage to the engine when I put it back on. I was considering leaving it off, does anyone know the purpose of the plate.

To see the pictures, just click on the small camera under the Canadian Flag.

looks nice: should get you a few extra whp

I wonder if the plate is to deflect oil splash back to a return line or towards a bearing. I'd put it back.
