Echo squealing

Hi,
I just picked up a 2003 echo and the car has a squeal and I wanted some help diagnosing it. I am pretty certain its coming from either the belt or an accessory, most likely the a/c, because if the a/c is off there is no squeal. It only squeals during some startups and usually goes away after a few minutes. So I am guessing that either the a/c clutch is doing something to the belt when it engages, or something is wrong with the compressor itself. I did notice recently that the a/c isn't consistently cold too. Any thoughts? Also, does anyone know where i can get a repair manual for the car? Doesn't seem haynes or chiltons makes one for the echo. Thanks!

I would start by checking your belt. Make sure it has the proper tension, check for cracks and glazing. I would replace the belt first if it looks questionable.

1- Tension the belt

2- Ad some wd-40 in alternator. If noise stop, replace alternato

3- Try the same in the ac compresror

4-I had to replace water pump after 115 000 km on toyota echo 2004 , and a friend of mine did the same on a 2005. look for prestons leak and dried prestone around water pump shaft just in case

5- Let use know !
