I dont think that the 1110 is correct. We travel 110 km a day to and from work, its not on the highway just country roads. We are getting 700 kms on a full tank of gas.

could be any number of things.

Have you changed the plugs, air filter, fuel filter ( I believe there is one in the fuel tank ), Coil packs? Cleaned the throttle body?

However if anyone of the above was not working properly it would have been effecting the performance as well.

Have you had the car for a long time?

I believe the 700 is correct, we checked it in the summer. When the weather gets warmenr I will check it again.

With the cold weather I've been getting about 500 Kms per tank city/highway , but if you let it warm up for 15 min or use a remote starter before you drive then 250 kms makes sense, in the summer I'd expect around 600 - 700 but I've done better once or twice.

I usually get between 480 and 520 km before the low fuel light flashes. I drive a 2005 with a manual transmission, all city driving, and I speed too often.

Dont believe everything you read. In spring/summer I get about 550 to 600 on average with 620 the best, and in winter about 450 to 500 or less, if driving short distances. All city driving. I see you are driving in Mtl - much colder there = more gas, and all the braking you do to check out the good looking chicks!
Here is my recommendation, buy a ScanGauge and plug it into the diagnostic plug. It displays relevant info about the current operation of the motor, including current fuel consumption. You can use that to adjust your style of driving. The ScanGauge fits right into the small opening under the instrument pannel.

My 05 Echo usually goes to 500kms before i fill it up thats around town (Montreal) if you are getting only 250kms on a tankful and your car is otherwise in good mechanical tune either your driving isnt as slow and easy as you think or your fuel calculations are in some way faulty.

My 02 Echo 40 mpg in city

Four door, automatic, city driving, almost no interstate. 18k miles per year. I coast a lot. Windows rolled up. No extra cargo. Tires inflated 30 to 35 pounds and checked several times weekly. Oil checked several times weekly. I pick routes to keep my speed just above 40 miles/hour. No idling if at all possible.
