I'm mainly interested in the body dimension differences.
N. Amer Echo- http://www.toyota.com/html/shop/vehicles/echo/specs/echo_specs.html
Jap Vitz - The four-door sedan shares its underpinnings with the Vitz/Yaris hatchback, including the 2370-mm (93-in) wheelbase and front 1450-mm (57-in) and rear 1430-mm (56-in) tracks. The car is 3760 mm (148 in) long, 1600 mm (63 in) wide, and 1675 mm (66 in) tall—150 mm (6 in) longer, 60 mm (2.5 in) narrower, and 75 mm (3 in) taller than the hatchback. http://www.sae.org/automag/globalview_05-00/04.htm
Would bodykits for a Vitz fit a N. Amer. Echo (aka Platz in Jap.)?
What other performance parts are avail for the Echo?
Also, if any of you have links to Echo (not Vitz) forums, pls share. Lafora?

there are a few platz body kits out there... I have a cold air intake ( from E.L. Prototypes ), Corolla injectors will fit the Echo (both are 200cc but the corolla injector is a higher velocity one), and intrax springs...
But here's a few part I found for the Echo... Ground control has coil overs sleeves for the Echo, Intrax and B+G makes springs also, S-AFC will work with the Echo also, Blitz Japan has a supercharger kit, Top Secret's supercharger kit also works, HKS Japan also has a turbo kit TDO4 turbo, Tanabe Japan also has a Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust for it, C-WEST has a pre-programmed ecu for the echo, Theres a company in Austrialia with single individual throttle bodies for it, TOMS has a couple of stuff for it like exhaust, springs, extra...
Now if you want to go crazy you can order a bunch of stuff from TRD Japan like LSD, whole set of Gears, Racing Clutch, and coil over system.
But for now you can order the strut bar and the rear cross member for the Echo from Toyota Guys.com ... Good luck...

Phi i totally see what you are on to
and let me say, from my recent board trolling amoung the toronto crews, I am happy you are NOT A CATALOG SHOPPER..
it makes me sick how many people out there just want to get a car and get an issue of "import tuner" (its a cool mag righht?) and are just itching to dail 1-800 numbers, have sh** shipped to their door and then go to BC auto to install........
originality, like integrity, these days are hard to come by.

Hey, if I can soup-up a Camry, an Echo is a day at the park  Well, I hope. The hurdle now is - How do I get my little hands on these goods from across the ocean?
For those that don't know...This is what I'm dreaming of

This is all in the "wishful" thinking phase. We'll see what happens. Being the indecisive person I am, I could very well change my mind at least another 5 times :???:

Like Andrew said, be an original and go for it. As for getting the parts from Japan, you have my linguistic assitance for ordering from HK, where many of the Japanese parts can be found.

Believe me, it's not by choice. On second hand, it's actually fun checking out the Jap sites. I've never really been exposed to that stuff until recently (IS200 mag you showed me )
If nothing else, I'm taking the advice given here on numerous occasions. RESEARCH! It would be easier if the info was in Engrish though

by the way the Top Secret Vitz is rumored to have 200hp at the wheels and pulls mid to high 11's... I'd believe it because the Vitz only wieght in at 1600lbs ( with full interior) while the Echo weight in at 2245lbs with me in it...
