As of a couple of weeks ago, I've now owned my '10 Yaris 4-door LB for a year. I bought it new with 9 miles on it. She now has 17K. Absolutely love this little car!
No issues of any kind and she's still drum tight. Getting 40 MPG on the highway is as easy as breathing. Hope to drive it for many more years to come.
In fact, my wife likes my car so much that she bought herself a new Yaris sedan about a month ago. Just in time for gas to hit $3.80 per gallon around here.

I just drove a rented Yaris 340 miles today. A big disapointment compared to the similar sized Corollas of the 80's and Tercels of the 90's. Busier, noisier ride, even with the tire pressures deflated to 30PSI. Hard, uncomfortable seats. Hard plastic everywhere vs padded surfaces everywhere on the afore mentioned old Corollas and Tercels.
A year ago I also rented a new Yaris and had the same impressions.
I still own a 1986 Corolla which is actually 300 lbs lighter than a Yaris yet it has comfy seats, a bump smothering ride (4 wheel independent suspension) rock solid highway directional stability and a luxury interior by comparison. Yaris beats it only in power and high speed cornering capability. I am really dissappointed Toyota is no longer willing to build small cars that feel and drive like scaled down full size cars.

Well....you know what they say about opinions. We've all got one and they all.......you know the rest.

I'm with you Billiam. I'm a firm believer in small cars after getting a Yaris. I will now always have the Yaris or a small car in the garage purely for commutes.
To respond to verylarder, almost all manufacturers have "upgraded" to hard plastic and the super sized mentality, it's what people want. It also has to do with modern safety features. The Yaris is the size of the Corollas from the late 90s, it's only considered small because everything else has gotten larger too. I wish I could have a tin can like the Geo metro from the early 90s but I don't think it will happen either.

Billiam, I have good news for you!
If the Yaris is anything like the Echo you will be in for a very long haul. My Echo04 is now 8 years old and is still factory tight. No rattles of any kind and no issues. In the 5th year, I changed the coolant ($100), transmission fluid ($110) and spark plugs ($75). Still have the orig Micheling tires and orig battery. What other car can beat that?

Yep, I hope to drive it for a good long while. Every reliability study I've read ranks the Yaris near the top of the list. It was even voted as the Toyota most likely to go 200K+ miles on a recent list...though I can't remember who published that one.

Billiam, I have an 02 Echo with 165k miles on it. Runs like a top, although with two items of weirdness...horn doesn't work unless is car is running (complicated to fix) and AC/heater diverter sends all air to the dash. 39 mpg in the city just this week. Love the car.
Just took a 950 mile trip a few days ago. I did it on 26 gallons of gas. That works out be about 37 MPG. Not bad considering that I was running 75 MPH most of the way and had the a/c on the whole time....plus my heavier wheels and tires.
