Would make it super easy to change the oil! Tho the engine compartment is kinda cramped...

Wont do much for easier oil changes but will make a filter change easier as you wont have to get on the ground to take off the filter..

Tee-hee! as in the thread quote. " Change Echo oil filter without ever changing oil?"

If your not gonna change the oil, then it's gonna be pretty easy to just change the filter right? My echo doesn't burn any oil so... it won't work for me. If the filter catches all the sludge and junk, I don't see any reason why it would not work.

Sometimes in the old mitsubishi vans here in New Zealand the cyclone engines use oil like a nitemare, so one time I put a bit of brasso down each bore. Turned the engine over without starting for a few minutes, then put some oil down each bore to dilute the brasso. Once the inital oil had burnt off after starting it never used anymore oil and there was a marked increase in power.

Good solution, a quick-and-cheap ring-reseal, ... how much Brasso per cylinder did you use?.

Well I got told that if you put too much in you can easily over do it, so I just added a real small amount in stages. Like a quarter of a teaspoon in each cylinder.
However I probably wouldnt do it on your echo in fear of damaging it, on those old vans you kinda have nothing to lose cause the engine is shot anyway.
HAHA but its a good trick to have up your sleve.

I wouldn't suggest it -- that would be the last resort.

I'll take that and run. I have 181k miles now on my Echo.

You must drive a lot. If I may ask what do you do? Or you just happen to drive a lot? I have an 03 but not nearly as many miles as you. I know my miles are low for a 9 year old car. 135k almost 136 cause I barely drove when I first got it. Lately especially since last fall 2011 I started to drive more cause my school is far away. No big deal cause I like driving and I could care less about miles, that's what the car is for. Its a cheap commuter car that is meant to be driven and I know its a tank.
