OBD 2 Problems w/ 2000 Toyota Echo

Hello all,

I haave a 2000 Toyota Echo (made in Japan) - my engine light came on the other day, so I purchased an RS232 cable to help me diagnose the problem. The cable goes from USB to the OBD 16 pin connector. I hooked it up to my laptop, but every software I try is telling me it cannot communicate with the ECU. Does anyone have any experience with this? I was wondering if it had something to do with the serial port settings.

Thanks,
Andrew

You might want to address this in the Yaris/ECHO forums.

Not a problem... I solved the mystery...
It turns out that there is a fuse for the OBD which was blown.(Don't ask me how) I replaced the fuse, and voila!!!
Thanks anyways...
