Hesitation issue.

Hey everyone,
Sorry I am not on here often. The echo has given me no problems even though I put alot of miles on it, so I rarely need help with it!

Well this week I got a new daily driver and am giving the echo to my girlfriend. It has protested by losing two tires and developing a hesitation issue :p.

The issue only springs up when it is raining heavily. The car sputters and hesitates at low RPM and then finally catches as you give it gas.
Only happens when its raining.
Any ideas?
I have recently cleaned the PCV and put new spark plugs in.
I wouldnt mind replacing the ignition (which would just be the coils in this car right?) but since it runs fine in good weather it seems like it would need insulation somewhere and not new parts.

Also it is not immediately when it rains, it starts about ten minutes into driving.

Thanks guys!

if it were an older car, this problem would be screaming out "replace the wires and distributor"
I agree with your assessment. I'd go over all the wiring leading to the coil packs with a silicone spray. perhaps you'll find some damage along the way

Exactly! I figured they must be good if they run high RPM fine.
What are all the ignition components for this car. I am much more familiar with the coil, wire, distributor setups. Is it just the CoP setup linked to a computer?

Well after a week of running fine and good weather, I was driving the car today and two minutes after it started raining it began to hesitate! Any ideas? I cleaned out the PCV and it clicked freely before and after the cleaning. Fresh air filter, intake on securely.

I have the car on the rack now and when it cools I will dry and cover any wires underneath. Pretty confident its not any ignition components because right when it started hesitation I pulled over and opened the hood and the top of the engine was dry.
So its either some sensor that responds to rain or a wire that isnt fully insulated anymore. Will check in a bit and update soon.

Try cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor; a fairly common issue on Echo's. Be sure to use specialized mass air flow cleaner. It has worked on a few of my buddy's cars.

Ok,
I got under the car. All wiring is great, and jacketed well.
I took out the cools and resistance tested them, everything performed well. I checked all spark plugs, all working well. Car ran fine for a week in great weather. It started raining a bit ago and I get a call from the girlfriend that its stuttering again. Grrrrrrrr

Has this worked specifically for cars having issues when its raining?
I honestly forgot to try this but I clean it every other oil change so I doubt its that filthy but Ill give it a shot.
